  • Piano

    Piano

As an experienced music teacher, I know that piano lessons are an excellent starter instrument for children and adults alike, helping you to develop a strong musical foundation.

Lessons are designed to be really engaging to ensure children stay motivated and excited about learning.

It can be a little challenging to read both music clefs at first, but this puts you in a great position to add further instruments to your repertoire later.

  • Flute

    Flute

The flute is a wonderful musical instrument to learn. Its melodious and versatile sound can be found in various genres, including classical, jazz and contemporary music.

The flute's lightweight and portable design makes it easy for students of all ages to handle and transport.

As well as being a music teacher, I have played the flute professionally, including wonderful opportunities playing beside James Galway in London.

  • Alto Sax

The alto saxophone's unique sound allows for expressive and improvised performances, making it particularly appealing to young musicians looking to explore their creativity.

In addition to my role as a music teacher, I have played the alto sax in Wembley arena in London!

I performed a solo of 'Send in the Clowns' when the Royal Tunbridge Wells Marching Band made it to the final of the British Championships for Marching Bands.

Children are either in key stage 1 or 2 at infant and primary schools, or home educated.

I am based in Eastbourne near Hailsham, Lewes, Seaford and Bexhill in East Sussex, yet with online teaching, support children across a far wider area as a result of recommendations.

I am a musician and music teacher based in Eastbourne.

As your music teacher, what matters to me most is finding out what really inspires you, because practising shouldn’t feel like a chore.

Classically trained from the age of 6 on the piano, I added the flute aged 11 and later the sax. I love performing and travelled across the country with a band in my teens.

In my early 20s, I studied piano further in the USA, before returning to the UK to complete my four year teaching degree, with a specialism in music - which, of course, enabled me to become a music teacher.

My taste is eclectic - I love country music, have a background in classical, and really enjoy playing sax in big bands and folk music.

I regularly accompany pupils for their music exams.

Claire is a very patient music teacher. There is no pressure, so it’s really learn at your own pace
— A Morris, Eastbourne (piano - adult)
My music teacher, Miss Barrass is good at identifying pupils’ strengths, she uses different techniques and approaches to make their learning more fun and uses a wide range of music genres to make playing enjoyable and interesting.
— W Yee, Eastbourne (piano - age 8 & 10)
Claire is so patient and always positive and cheery. She is a paragon of virtue, as she smiles throughout my elderly lady playing and always writes down lots of tips to help me. She is my third music teacher and knocks spots off the others.
— D Pett, Hailsham (piano - adult)

Latest performances

Having run choirs and regularly played for school assemblies, I have

recently had the opportunity to diversify and try my hand at playing carols at the local Christ Church.

The Father Willis Organ was built in 1880, by Henry ‘Father’ Willis, and is believed to be the oldest of its type on the South Coast.  This is the first time I have performed on an organ.
